Soldering 1 - Bracelet M1

This workshop will introduce silver soldering to enable you to make connections like jump rings and secure pins and findings. You will make a bracelet, including a clasp. This is the prerequisite class needed before taking other soldering classes.

Soldering 2 - Stone Setting - Intermediate M2

Students will learn the ancient traditional technique of bezel setting a cabochon (flat bottomed) stone in fine and sterling silver. The piece will be fabricated in silver by the student and become a pin/brooch or pendant. The class will use cast findings, so that students can spend quality time learning the bezel setting technique. Prereq. Soldering 1 within the past 18 months or your soldering skills are up-to-date.

Soldering 3 - Finger Ring - Intermediate M3

Students will learn the ancient traditional technique of band making using twist and braid formation. The piece will be fabricated in sterling silver by the student to fit a predetermined size. Pieces can be finished in a variety of ways including high polish, oxidized, and (for an additional fee) 14kt. gold granules can be added for decorative accents. Prereq. Soldering 1 within the past 18 months or your soldering skills are up-to-date.

*Fusing Chain Making Class M4

Back by popular demand – Fusing is the art of controlled melting of the materials into an aesthetic or mechanical form. Sterling silver and Fine silver will be used to produce samples of three classic chains for bracelets, using heat but no solder. Techniques for fusing each will be extensively covered, but time will allow only two to be completed in class. Finishing and applications will be covered.
