Soldering 1 - Bracelet - M1

Bead Class

This workshop will introduce silver soldering to enable you to make connections such as jump rings and secure pins and findings. You will make a bracelet, including a clasp. This is the prerequisite class needed before taking other soldering classes.

Soldering 2 – Stone Set Ring– Intermediate – M2

Bead Class

Students will learn the ancient traditional technique of band making for a finger. The piece will be fabricated in sterling silver by the student to fit a predetermined size. Students will then fabricate a cabochon bezel setting to sit atop the band; finish & polish the piece; and finally, set a stone. Students may bring their own stone/ object/glass piece to set -- dimensions to be approx. 1" diameter with a flat base. Stones will also be available for purchase in class. Prereq. Soldering 1 within the past 18 months or your soldering skills are up-to-date.

Soldering 3 - Fused Chain Making - M3

Bead Class

Fusing is the ancient art of controlled melting of two or more similar metals together to make a solid connection. We will be fusing both fine & sterling silver and discussing the differences & similarities of the metals. Design for each link will be discussed, and, as always, there will be room for creative changes to be made within the piece. Students will complete at least one bracelet-length of chain. Prereq. Soldering 1 within the past 18 months or your soldering skills are up-to-date.

Soldering 4 - Advanced Soldering - Intermediate - M4

Bead Class

This class is for advanced students who have taken numerous Soldering classes and wish to challenge themselves both creatively and technically. Techniques covered include piercing, fold forming, stamping and hammer texturing, and tube setting. Students will be working in the new Argentium silver for this project. Prereq. Proficiency in soldering.
